Art Enrichment Students Prepare for Upcoming Art Auction
Children’s art to be auctioned alongside works by noted Virginia artists
Hampton, VA- Several children who participate in the Monart Art Enrichment program at Alternatives will display their art work alongside pieces donated by prominent Virginia artists like Nancy Thomas and Dan Bartges. Over 60 donated pieces of fine art will be auctioned at the Arbors in Port Warwick on April 4 to benefit the Monart visual art enrichment program operated by Alternatives - a nonprofit youth development agency in Hampton and Newport News. The auction will feature works by noted Virginia painters, photographers, ceramists, jewelers and weavers. The proceeds of the auction go to benefit the Monart Visual Art Enrichment program which reaches over 1000 young people ages 4 – 18 on the Virginia Peninsula . Many are economically at risk or identified with special needs. The goal of the auction is to raise enough money to increase participation in Monart to reach over 1,200 youth on the Virginia Peninsula. Children’s artwork and a select number of works by other artists will be exhibited at JSL Fine Art one week before the live auction. All works can be viewed and bid on on-line at www.monart.cmarket.com starting March 15th.
