Peace Flags Fly in Observance of 9/11
Local  Hampton, VA Youth Display Flags to Promote Peace

In Memory of September 11, Alternatives Inc., in partnership with Americorps and the Hampton Teen Center,  displayed peace art flags as part of an international social arts effort to promote peace throughout the world.  The peace art flags were hung at Gosnold’s Hope Park on September 11 as part of the annual 9/11 observance by the city of Hampton.

“The project is about creating a personal vision and actions to create a peaceful, healthy and safe community, “ said Linda Hansen, Creativity Director at Alternatives, a local youth development agency.

The flags, covered with symbols, words, and colors were made by AmeriCorp members and local teens at the Hampton Teen Center.  Macon Elementary School students also participated.

The flags will be on display at the Hampton Teen Center after September 11.
